Notification
To: Companies, Agencies, Persons, entities, and organizations at all level.
Subject: Temporarily stop the importation of all satellites’ equipment.
- Pursuant to Prime Minister’s Decree no. 95/PM, dated on 09 March 2017 on the implementation and roles of Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.
- Pursuant to the Law on Mass Media (Revised) No. 01/NA, dated on 04 November 2016.
- Pursuant to the Instruction of Prime Minister’s Office No. 1989/PMO.LCDC, dated on 14 December 2017.
- Pursuant to the verdict of the consultative meeting on 12 January 2018 in regards to the management of importation and the use of the equipment of Direct-To-Home (DTH) between Mass Media Department, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Department of Telecommunication, Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, and Department of Import and Export, Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
Due to illegal importations of satellites’ equipment and to ensure that the satellites’ equipment management system is complied with regulations and Prime Minister’s Instruction dated on 24 November 2017, to ensure that the implementation is complied with laws and regulations, and to ensure the best interest of the users of all satellites’ equipment.
The Cabinet of Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism would like to inform that companies, agencies, persons, entities, and organizations at all level throughout the country that conduct businesses related to importation, sell, and installation services of satellites’ equipment in Lao PDR shall temporarily stop the importation of all satellites’ equipment, starting from 01 February 2018.
For any businesses that already imported satellites’ equipment to provide services for their customers, such businesses shall declare or report their activities as follow:
- Businesses in Vientiane Capital shall report to Satellite Division, Mass Media Department, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.
- Businesses in the provinces shall report to Information, Culture and Tourism department in their province.
All relevant persons/entities shall acknowledge and firmly exercise the above notification.
