The imports and exports of Lao PDR in January 2020 achieved US$ 975 million, including US$ 482 million of export and approximately US$ 492 million of import, therefore, the Trade deficit was US$ 10 million.
The main export category
The total exports were approximately US$ 482 million. The main value exports included US$ 49 million of copper ore, US$ 23 million of banana, US$ 14 million of frame and camera parts, US$ 56 million of mix gold and gold bars, US$ 56 million of cassava, US$ 15 million of clothes, US$ 13 million of raw coffee, US$ 10 million of sugar, US$ 15 million of robber and US$ 3 million of tobacco.
The main import category
The total imports were approximately US$ 492 million. The main value imports included US$ 35 millions of vehicles (other than motorcycles, tractors), US$ 24 millions of electric devices and equipment, US$ 38 millions of diesel, US$ 35 millions of mechanical equipment (other than motor vehicles), US$ 42 million of steel, steel products, magnetic steel, US$ 16 millions of auto parts (including tires, glass, chains ...), US$ 9 millions of gasoline and premium gasoline, US$ 7 millions of rebar and various types of steel, US$ 18 million of plastic products and US$ 7 millions of chemical products.
The five main exporting countries of Lao PDR
The main exporting countries of Lao PDR included China US$ 167 million, Vietnam US$ 121 million, Thailand US$ 89 million, India US$ 14 million and Japan US$ 7 million.
The five main importing countries of the Lao PDR
The main importing countries of Laos included: Thailand US$ 266 million, China US$ 115 million, Vietnam US$ 59 million, Japan US$ 7 million and USA US$ 13 million.
The January 2021 statistic does not include the value of export electric power, therefore, we will update later when it is available.
