The imports and exports of Lao PDR in September 2021 values US$ 777 million, including US$ 447 million of export and approximately US$ 330 million of import, therefore, the Trade surplus was approximately US$ 24 million.
The main export category
The total exports were approximately US$ 447 million. The main value exports included US$ 22 million of copper ore, copper and copper product, US$ 23 million of banana, US$ 99 million of mix gold (gold bars), US$ 18 million of clothes, US$ 6 million of sugar, US$ 54 million of rubber, US$ 4 million of fruits (water melon, passion fruits and tamarind), US$ 7 million of cigarette and US$ 4 million of rice.
The main import category
The total imports were approximately US$ 330 million. The main value imports included US$ 26 millions of vehicles (other than motorcycles, tractors), US$ 13 millions of electric parts and equipment, US$ 13 millions of diesel, US$ 29 millions of mechanical equipment (other than motor vehicles), US$ 10 millions of steel, steel products, magnetic steel, US$ 8 millions of vehicle parts (wheels, mirrors, chains,…), US$ 5 millions of gasoline and premium gasoline, US$ 18 millions of plastic products, US$ 37 millions of gems or semi-precious stones and US$ 5 millions of fertilizers.

The main exporting countries of Lao PDR included China US$ 217 million, Vietnam US$ 72 million, Thailand US$ 45 million, India US$ 12 million and USA US$ 6 million.
The five main importing countries of the Lao PDR
The main importing countries of Laos included: Thailand US$ 122 million, China US$ 76 million, Vietnam US$ 27 million, Japan US$ 12 million and USA US$ 37 million.
