The value of import and export of Lao PDR in March 2024 reached USD 1,268 million.
The main export category
The total export value was approximately USD 594 million, increased by 12% compared to February 2024. The main value exports included: USD78 million in cassava, USD 56 million in gold bar, USD 51 million in copper ore, USD 33 million in paper and paper products; USD 31 million in cassava starch; USD 24 million in rubber, USD 24 in wood pulp and paper waste and USD 23 million in sugar.
The main import category
The total import value was approximately USD 675 million, increased by 18% compared to February 2024. The main value imports included: USD 105 million in diesel, USD 56 million in land vehicles (except motorcycles, and tractors), USD 53 million in Mechanical equipment (other than vehicle mechanics), USD 38 million in electrical appliances and equipment, USD 37 million in steel and steel products, USD 25 million in vehicle spare parts (including tires, mirrors, chains...), USD 24 million in gasoline, USD 24 million in plastic utensils; USD 15 million in finished chemical products; and USD 4 million in Aluminum products.
The five main exporting countries of Lao PDR
China (USD 206 million), Thailand (USD 152 million), Vietnam (USD 125 million), Australia (USD 38 million), and the United States (USD 11 million).
The five main importing countries of the Lao PDR
Thailand (USD 311 million), China (USD 253 million), Vietnam (USD 38 million), the United States (USD 20 million), and Japan (USD 8 million).
The value of import and export of Lao PDR for March 2024 does not include electricity. We will show when it is available.
