Notification

 

                  To:  Individual, entities, organizations, companies, hotel and other shops.

         Subject:  On Import, Distribution and Application of Telecommunication Equipment (Walkie-Talkie)

 

  • Pursuant to the Prime Minister on the structure and implementation of the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, No. 303/PM, dated 26 September 2011.
  • Pursuant to the Law on Telecommunications (revision), No. 09/NA, dated 21 December 2011.

 

A walkie-talkie is a communicating device which is under the control of Telecommunication Department, Ministry of Post and Telecommunications. Currently certain individuals and business sectors import, distribute, sell and use the devices without a permit or a license.

In order to administer such action according to the telecommunication law, The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications has issued notification as follows:

 

  1. Import, Distribution and divise of Telecommunication Equipment (Walkie-Talkie)
  1. Any individual, entities or internal and external enterprise wanting to import a device to use for their own purposes, rather than for sale, must still get permission from the Ministry or its provincial offices. Individuals and groups are prohibited from importing or using a walkie-talkie without permission.
  2. Individual and entities wishing to operate a business involving the sale of walkie-talkies must be granted a license for their import, distribution and repair under the government regulations.
  3. Do not allow import by Individual, entities or organizations and use the devices of Telecommunication Equipment (Walkie-Talkie without a permit or a license.

 

  1. Implementation

Telecommunication Department, Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and Post and Telecommunications provincial offices/capital are the key person to implementation based on roles and responsibilities as following:

  1. Coordinate with line government agencies and relevant organizations to disseminate this notification for all sectors as central and provincial levels to acknowledge across the country.
  2. Coordinate with line government agencies and relevant organizations to inspect and implement this notification strictly.
  3. Owners of unregistered walkie-talkies must present the devices to the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and Post and Telecommunications provincial/capital offices within 45 days from the first day of the announcement. After the 45 days grace period, those found importing or using walkie-talkies will be fined in accordance with the Law on Telecommunications (revision) and other related regulations.

 

Therefore, this must inform to Individual, entities, organizations, companies, hotel and other shops across the country to acknowledge and strictly implement with this notice since the date of signature.
