“Dissemination meeting on import-export and transit of goods’ regulations, border trade, rules of origin and how to use Lao PDR Trade Portal for 06 northern provinces” was organized on 22nd -23rd December 2016 at Ken Thao District Governing Office in Sayaboury Province by Department of Import and Export an office of Trade Facilitation Secretariat (TFS), under the support of the Second Trade Development Facility (TDF2). The meeting was chaired by Mr. Xaythideth Inthasone, Deputy Director General of Department of Import and Export, Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The meeting was participated by 65 public and private participants.
The objectives of this meeting are to disseminate rules of origin of the Lao PDR, introduction on e-CO, ASEAN Self-Certificate, EU Self-Certificate, and how to use Lao PDR Trade Portal. The regulations disseminated in this meeting includes: Notification on the Implementation of Border Trade Development Cooperation, Instruction on Procedure to Certify Wooden Products (Before Loading to Container) for Export No. 2413/MOIC.DIMEX dated 25 November 2016, Notification on the Procedure to Certify Wooden Products (Before Loading to Container) for Export No. 1818/PMO.DE, dated 18 November 2016 and others.
Mr. Xaythideth Inthasone stated that: “this meeting is meaningful and useful to participants because information disseminating today will deepen their understanding on rules of origin of the Lao PDR, drafting border trade agreement, how to search trade information and new regulation that the will help local authorities to use it consistently and unitedly with central level.
In addition, the meeting also opened for discussion on issues, suggestions and consulted about the implementation on the import-export and transit, as well as trade facilitation in northern provinces which the Trade Facilitation Secretariat will report to the upper management in order to seek for solutions with local level.
