The monthly import and export of October 2019 reached US$ 873 million. The exports value US$ 338 million and imports value US$ 534 million and the trade deficit was approximately US$ 196 million.
The main export category
The total exports in October were approximately US$ 338 million. The exports included, US$ 49 million of gold ore; US$ 29 million of copper and accessories made of copper, US$ 17 million of bananas, US$ 28 million of pulp and paper, US$ 25 million of frames and camera parts, US$ 17 million of beverages, US$ 17 million of clothing, US$ 11 million of electrical and electrical equipment, US$ 23 million of rubber and US$ 16 million of livestock.
The main import category
The total of imports in October was approximately US$ 534 million. The imports included US$ 41 million vehicles besides tractors and motorcycles, US$ 26 million of electrical machinery and equipment, US$ 41 million of diesel, US$ 45 million of mechanical equipment (other than motor vehicles), US$ 41 million of steel, magnetic steel and steel products, US$ 21 million of beverages, US$ 16 million of steel lines and various forms of steel, US$ 14 million of plastic and plastic products, US$ 13 million of sugar and US$ 27 million of livestock.
The five main exporting countries of Lao PDR
The main export countries of Lao PDR included China US$ 128 million, Thailand US$ 89 million, Vietnam US$ 76 million, German US$ 8 million and Switzerland US$ 8 million.
The five main importing countries of the Lao PDR
The main importing countries of Laos were Thailand US$ 290 million, China US$ 132 million, Vietnam US$ 67 million, Japan US$ 10 million and Korea US$ 5 million.
