The monthly import and export of December 2019 achieved US$ 988 million. The exports value US$ 455 million and imports value US$ 534 million and the trade deficit was approximately US$ 79 million.
The main export category
The total of exports in November was approximately US$ 455 million. The exports included US$ 39 million of gold ore, US$ 35 million of copper and accessories made of copper, US$ 23 million of bananas, US$ 36 million of pulpwood and waste paper, US$ 20 million of beverages (water, juice, and energize drink), US$ 24 million of mix goal and goal bars, US$ 19 million of potatoes, US$ 19 million of clothing, US$ 35 million of rubber and US$ 27 million of livestock.
The main import category
The total of imports in November was approximately US$ 534 million. The imports included US$ 35 million of vehicles besides tractors and motorcycles, US$ 19 million of electrical machinery and equipment, US$ 47 million of diesel, US$ 50 million of mechanical equipment (other than motor vehicles), US$ 39 million of steel and steel products, magnetic steel, US$ 21 million of beverages (water, juice, and energize drink), US$ 13 million of spare parts (including tires, mirrors, chains), US$ 15 million of line steel and various forms of steel, US$ 17 million of plastic and plastic products and US$ 29 million of livestock.
The five main exporting countries of Lao PDR
The main export countries of Lao PDR included China US$ 175 million, Thailand US$ 100 million, Vietnam US$ 115 million, India US$ 10 million and Japan US$ 9 million.
The five main importing countries of the Lao PDR
The main importing countries of Laos are Thailand US$ 285 million, China US$ 145 million, Vietnam US$ 61 million, Japan US$ 6 million and the Unite States US$ 6 million.
The December statistic does not include the value of export electric power, therefore, we will update later when it is available.
