The imports and exports of Lao PDR in February 2020 achieved US$ 769 million, including US$ 391 million of export and approximately US$ 378 million of import, therefore, the trade balance was US$ 13 million.
The main export category
The total of exports in February was approximately US$ 391 million. The exports included US$ 54 million of cassava, US$ 39 million of copper ore, US$ 30 million of wood pulp and paper, US$ 29 million of copper and copper products, US$ 28 million of cows, buffalo, US$ 18 million of sugar, US$ 17 million of bananas, US$ 17 million of clothing, US$ 16 million of beverages (water, juice, energy…), and c, US$ 14 million of arts, camera parts.
The main import category
The total of imports in February was approximately US$ 378 million. The imports included US$ 36 million of diesel, US$ 30 million of land vehicles (excluding motorcycles, tractors), US$ 22 million of mechanical equipment (excluding motor vehicles), US$ 22 million of electricity, US$ 22 million of steel, steel products and magnetics, US$ 18 million of livestock, US$ 16 million of beverages (water, condensed drink, energize..), US$ 15 million of plastic products, US$ 12 million of spare parts, tires, and US$ 11 million of gasoline.
The five main exporting countries of Lao PDR
The main export countries of Lao PDR included Thailand US$ 111 million, China US$ 107 million Vietnam US$ 105 million, India US$ 7 million and Japan US$ 7 million.

The main importing countries of Laos included: Thailand US$ 233 million, China US$ 56 million, Vietnam US$39 million, United States US$ 11 million and Korea 7 million.
The February statistic does not include the value of export electric power, therefore, we will update later when it is available.
