The imports and exports of Lao PDR in May 2020 achieved US$ 711 million, including US$ 264 million of export and US$ 447 million of import, therefore, the trade deficit was US$ 183 million.
The main export category
The total exports were approximately US$ 264 million. The value exports included US$ 33 million of copper ore, US$ 23 million of pulpwood and waste paper, US$ 22 million of copper and copper products, US$ 20 million of banana, US$ 19 million of beverages (water, condensed drinks, energized drinks...), US$ 12 million of clothing, US$ 11 million of electrical equipment and appliances, US$ 9.38 million of fruits (watermelon, tamarind, mango ...), US$ 9.33 million of mix gold, gold bars, US$ 19.30 million of camera and camera parts.
The main import category
The total imports were approximately US$ 447 million. The value imports included US$ 46 million of mechanical equipment (excluding motor vehicles), US$ 32 million of steel and steel products, US$ 22 million of diesel, US$ 21 million of land vehicles (excluding motorcycles, tractors), US$ 20 million of beverages (water, condensed drinks, energized drinks...), US$ 18 million of electrical equipment and appliances, US$ 12 million of plastic products, US$ 12 million of wire steel and various forms of steel, US$ 11 million of vehicle spare parts (including tires, mirror, chain..) and US$ 9 million of fertilizer.

The main exporting countries of Lao PDR included China US$ 100 million, Vietnam US$ 69 million, Thailand US$ 57 million, Japan US$ 6 million and Germany India US$ 5 million
The five main importing countries of the Lao PDR
The main importing countries of Laos included: Thailand US$ 216 million, China US$ 140 million, Vietnam US$ 44 million, Japan US$ 14 million and United State US$ 7 million.
The May 2020 statistic does not include the value of export electric power, therefore, we will update later when it is available.
