Notification
To: Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Division, relevant divisions with the Provincial Office, District Agriculture and Forestry Offices, entrepreneurs, Business Units and consumers within the province who are involved in the production and trade of pork.
Subject: Notification on the temporary suspension to import pork, sow and boar pigs, young pigs and all kinds of pork products to Luangnamtha Province or transit through Luangnamtha Province and Thailand.
- Pursuant to the Law on Animal Husbandry and Veterinary (Amended) No.08/NA, dated 11 November 2020.
- Pursuant to the direction of Bokeo Province Governor on 2 July 2020.
- Pursuant to the telephone conversation with LuangNamtha Province (Livestock and Fisheries Sector) on 2 July 2020 on the African disease outbreak.
Provincial Office has issued a notification for temporarily suspended import of pork, sow and boar pigs, young pigs and all kinds of pork products from LuangNamtha or provinces within the country and abroad (China, Vietnam) via LuangNamtha from Thailand and import to Bokeo. Due to the fact that there is a terrible outbreak of African disease in China, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar and now are epidemics in LuangNamtha.
In order to prevent the spread of the disease into Bokeo Province which will cause great impacts to the province's economy and will have a direct effect to pig farmings and food security for meat consumers. Therefore, the Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Division is assigned to led the livestock and fisheries sector and Authorizers at International Checkpoints, Local Checkpoints and Tradition Checkpoints for their implementation strictly checking smuggled pork, young pork and products of pork from the mention provinces and neighbor countries. If there is a truck with live pigs that need to return the origins. If there is pork products should be destroyed with a fine as refer to the relevant regulations.
If an entrepreneur wishes to import pork, sow and boar pigs, young pigs and all kinds of pork products that must obtain a permit from the Department of Livestock and Fisheries with a certificate of origin and certificate of free disease of FMD, ASF and PRRS from the state lab only.
Therefore, we would like to inform you to know and follow the contents of this notice.
