The imports and exports of Lao PDR in December 2021 valued US$ 1,184 million, including US$ 552 million of export and approximately US$ 632 million of import, therefore, the trade deficit was US$ 80 million.
The main export category
The total exports were approximately US$ 552 million. The main value exports included US$ 19 million of copper ore, US$ 9 million of copper and copper products, US$ 15 million of banana, US$ 102 million of mix gold (gold bars), US$ 60 million of cassava, US$ 17 million of cloth, US$ 6 million of raw coffee, US$ 12 million of sugar, US$ 46 million of rubber maize and US$ 7 million of rice.
The main import category
The total imports were approximately US$ 632 million. The main value imports included US$ 46 millions of vehicles (other than motorcycles, tractors), US$ 48 millions of diesel, US$ 27 millions of mechanical equipment (other than motor vehicles), US$ 12 millions of steel, steel products, magnetic steel, US$ 26 millions of brewery (water, soda, energy ...), US$ 18 millions of auto parts (including tires, mirrors, chains ...), US$ 14 millions of gasoline and premium gasoline, US$ 14 millions of plastic products, US$ 23 millions of precious or semi-precious stones, US$ 7 millions of chemical products and US$ 10 millions of wastes from the food industry.

The main exporting countries of Lao PDR included China US$ 210 million, Vietnam US$ 122 million, Thailand US$ 101 million, India US$ 12 million and Japan US$ 8 million.
The five main importing countries of the Lao PDR
The main importing countries of Laos included: Thailand US$ 325 million, China US$ 111 million, Vietnam US$ 52 million, Japan US$ 16 million and USA US$ 10 million.
The December 2021 statistic does not include the value of export electric power, therefore, we will update later when it is available.
