The imports and exports of Lao PDR in April 2022 were valued at US$ 950 million, including US$ 424 million in export and approximately US$ 526 million in imports, therefore, the trade deficit was US$ 102 million.

The main export category

The total exports were approximately US$ 424 million. The main value exports included US$ 45 million in gold, and gold bars, US$ 23 million in paper and paper products, US$ 22 million in copper ore, US$ 28 million in wood pulp and waste paper, US$ 24 million in rubber, US$ 22 million in cassava, US$ 21 million in iron ore, US$ 22 million in banana, US$ 17 million in clothing and US$ 39 million in fertilizer.

The main import category

The total imports were approximately US$ 526 million. The main value imports included US$ 41 million in inland vehicles (other than motorcycles, and tractors), US$ 62 million in diesel, US$ 43 million in mechanical equipment (other than motor vehicles), US$ 16 million in wood pulp and waste paper, US$ 23 million in auto parts (including tires, windshields, chains ...), US$ 15 million in steel and steel products, magnetic steel, US$ 26 million in plastic products, US$ 14 million in gasoline and premium gasoline, US$ 16 million in paper and paper utensils and US$ 16 million in wood and wooden utensils.     

The five main exporting countries of Lao PDR

The main exporting countries of Lao PDR included China US$ 137 million, Vietnam US$ 106 million, Thailand US$ 65 million, Australia US$ 32 million, and Switzerland US$ 14 million.

The five main importing countries of the Lao PDR

The main importing countries of Laos included: Thailand US$ 238 million, China US$ 157 million, Vietnam US$ 47 million, USA US$ 18 million, and Japan US$ 12 million.

 

The April 2022 statistic does not include the value of export electric power, therefore, we will update later when it is available.
