The main export category
The total exports were approximately US$ 481 million. The main value exports included US$ 64 million in mixed gold, and gold bars, US$ 40 million in the paper, and paper products, US$ 28 million in copper ore, US$ 30 million in wood pulp, and waste paper, US$ 14 million in rubber, US$ 21 million in banana, US$ 20 million in clothing, US$ 14 million in footwear, US$ 22 million in sugarand US$ 55 million in fertilizer.
The main import category
The total imports were approximately US$ 529 million. The main value imports included US$ 37 million in inland vehicles (other than motorcycles, and tractors), US$ 79 million in diesel, US$ 28 million in mechanical equipment (other than motor vehicles), US$ 21 million in precious or semi-precious stones, US$ 18 million in auto parts (including tires, windshields, chains ...), US$ 16 million in steel and steel products, magnetic steel, US$ 18 million in plastic products, US$ 18 million in gasoline and premium gasoline, US$ 13 million in fertilizer and US$ 14 million in chemical products.

The main exporting countries of Lao PDR included China US$ 223 million, Vietnam US$ 95 million, Thailand US$ 58 million, Australia US$ 19 million, and India US$ 14 million.

The main importing countries of Laos included: Thailand US$ 281 million, China US$ 113 million, Vietnam US$ 36 million, USA US$ 21 million, and Switzerland US$ 22 million.
