The imports and exports of Lao PDR in November 2022 were valued at US$ 1,083 million, including US$519 million in export and approximately US$564 million in imports, therefore, the trade deficit was US$45 million.

The main export category

The total exports were approximately US$519 million. The main value exports included USD 63 million in mixed gold and gold bars, USD 54 million in wood pulp and paper scraps, USD 44 million in paper and paper products, USD 41 million in rubber, USD 37 million in potassium salt, USD 31 million in gold ore, USD 23 million in clothing, USD 22 million in sugar, USD 19 million in shoes and 15 million in bananas.

The main import category

The total imports were approximately US$ 564 million. The main value imports included USD 85 million in diesel, USD 51 million in mechanical equipment, USD 35 million in land vehicles, USD 29 million in precious or semi-precious stones, USD 23 million in wood pulp and paper scraps, USD 18 million in steel and iron or steel products, USD 18 million in gasoline, USD 18 million in plastic products, USD18 million in electrical appliances and electrical equipment and USD 17 million in car spare parts.

The five main exporting countries of Lao PDR

The main exporting countries of Lao PDR included China USD 218 million, Vietnam USD 107 million, Thailand USD 62 million, Australia USD 40 million, and Hongkong USD 16 million.

The five main importing countries of the Lao PDR

The main importing countries of Laos included: Thailand USD 277 million, China USD 145 million, Switzerland USD 30, Vietnam USD 24 million and USA USD 22 million.
