The imports and exports of Lao PDR in February 2023 were valued at US$ 962 million, including US$505 million in export and approximately US$457 million in imports, therefore, the trade surplus was US$48 million.
The main export category
The total exports were approximately US$505 million. The main value exports included USD 85 million in casava, USD 46 million in mixed gold and goal bars, USD 35 million in ore copper, USD 34 million in salt, USD 30 million in wood pulp and paper scraps, USD 28 million in paper and paper products, USD 26 million in sugar, USD 22 million in clothes, USD 21 million in bananas and USD 20 million in iron ore.
The main import category
The total imports were approximately US$ 457 million. The main value imports included USD 83 million in diesel, USD 31 million in mechanical equipment, USD 27 million in land vehicles, USD 19 million in gasoline, USD 18 million in steel and steel products, USD 18 million in plastic products, USD 17 million in electric lines and cables, USD 15 million in vehicle spare parts, USD 14 million in beverage and USD 13 million in wood pulp and paper waste.
The five main exporting countries of Lao PDR
The main exporting countries of Lao PDR included China USD 173 million, Thailand USD 116 million, Vietnam USD 106 million, Australia USD 23 million, and Hongkong USD 13 million.
The five main importing countries of the Lao PDR
The main importing countries of Laos included: Thailand USD 257 million, China USD 115 million, Vietnam USD 22 million, USA USD 14 million and Japan USD 8 million.
