The imports and exports of Lao PDR in June 2023 were valued at US$ 1,041 million, including US$ 458 million in export and approximately US$584 million in imports, therefore, the trade deficit was US$126 million.

 

The main export category

The total exports were approximately US$458 million. The main value exports included USD 53 million in salts, USD 48 million in mixed gold and bullion, USD 42 million in paper and paper products, USD 36 million in copper ore, USD 33 million in sugar, USD 24 million in iron ore, USD 23 million in beverage, USD 22 million in pulp and paper scrap, USD 21 million in clothing and 16 USD in rubber.

 

The main import category

The total imports were approximately US$ 584 million. The main value imports included USD 66 million in diesel, USD 54 million in land vehicles, USD 48 million in electronic appliances, USD 43 million in mechanical equipment, USD 39 million in auto parts, USD 36 million in steel and steel products, USD 26 million in beverages, USD 20 million in gasoline, USD 18 million in plastic products and USD 14 million in electronic lines and cables.

 

The five main exporting countries of Lao PDR

The main exporting countries of Lao PDR included China USD 172 million, Vietnam USD 106 million, Thailand USD 48 million, Australia USD 33 million, and USA USD 17 million.

 

The five main importing countries of the Lao PDR

The main importing countries of Laos included: Thailand USD 297 million, China USD 171 million, Vietnam USD 29 million, USA USD 13 million and Japan USD 15 million.

 

The June 2023 statistic does not include the value of export electric power; therefore, we will update later when it is available.
