In December 2023, the import and export value of Laos was totaled USD 1.235 million.

The main export category

The total export value was approximately USD 531.3 million. The main value export included USD 72.4 million in mixed gold and gold bars, USD 44.6 million in rubber, USD 38.5 million in gold ore, USD 37.2 million in paper products, USD 34.8 million in cassava, 24.4 million USD in cassava starch, USD 24.4 million in electrical products, USD 23.1 million in wood pulp and paper scraps, USD 21.9 million in steel and USD 21.9 million in clothing. 

The main import category

The total import value was approximately USD 703.6 million. The main value import included USD 94.1 million in fuel, USD 78.1 million in mechanical equipment, USD 69.2 million in land vehicles, USD 36 million in electrical appliances, USD 33 million in steel and steel products, USD 22.9 million in gasoline, USD 22.7 million in beverages, USD 22.7 million in auto spare parts, USD 21.6 million in plastic products and USD 20.2 million in pulp and paper scrap

The five main exporting countries of Lao PDR

In December 2023, China (USD 200.3 million), Vietnam (USD 118.1 million), Thailand (USD 88.2 million), Australia (USD 37.9 million), and India (USD 18.6 million) were the top exporters of Laos

The five main importing countries of the Lao PDR

While, China (USD 298.7 million), Thailand (USD 271.3 million), Vietnam (USD 34 million), the United States (USD 24.1 million), and Japan (USD 24.1 million) were Laos' top importers.

We will update later when the value of exported electric power becomes available, as it is not included in the December 2023 data.
