The value of Lao PDR's imports and exports in January 2024 is approximately USD 1,311 million.
The main export category
The total export value is approximately USD 561 million. The main value export included USD 94 million in cassava, USD 44 million in gold ore, USD 44 million in mixed gold and gold bar, USD 39 million in paper products, USD 33 million in cassava starch, USD 32 million in rubber, USD 27 million in sugar, USD 24 million in iron ore, USD 21 million in wood pulp and paper scraps and USD 21 million in banana.
The main import category
The total import value is approximately US$ 749 million. The main value import included USD 95 million in fuel, USD 64 million in chemical products, USD 62 million in mechanical equipment (other than vehicle mechanics), USD 53 million in land vehicles (except motorcycles and tractors), USD 34 million in electrical appliances, USD 33 million in steel and magnetic steel, USD 31 million in wood and wood products, USD 24 million in beverage, USD 23 million in sugar and USD 23 million vehicle spare parts.

In January 2024, China (USD 198 million), Thailand (USD 134 million), Vietnam (USD 129 million), Australia (USD 32 million), and USA (USD 13 million) were the top exporters of Laos
The five main importing countries of the Lao PDR
While, Thailand (USD 309 million), China (USD 298 million), Vietnam (USD 53 million), the United States (USD 17 million), and Japan (USD 10 million) were Laos' top importers.
