The value of import and export of Lao PDR in February 2024 reached USD 1,101 million, decreased by 16% compared to January 2024.
The main export category
The total export value was approximately USD 530 million, decreased by 5.5% compared to January 2024. The main value exports included: USD 95 million in cassava, USD 60 million in mixed gold, USD 47 million in copper ore, USD 26 million in paper and paper products; USD 24 million in 2 cassava starch; USD 24 million in wood pulp and paper waste, USD 23 million in sugar; USD 21 million in bananas and USD 14 million in rubber.
The main import category
The total import value was approximately USD 570 million, decreased by 24% compared to January 2024. The main value imports included: USD 103 million in diesel, USD 49 million in land vehicles (except motorcycles, and tractors), USD 39 million in Mechanical equipment (other than vehicle mechanics), USD 28 million in steel and steel products, USD 25 million in electrical appliances and equipment, USD 19 million in gasoline, USD 18 million in vehicle spare parts (including tires, mirrors, chains...), USD 14 million in plastic utensils; USD 10 million in finished chemical products; and USD 4 million in Aluminum products.
The five main exporting countries of Lao PDR
China (USD 180 million), Thailand (USD 146 million), Vietnam (USD 92 million), Australia (USD 32 million), and India (USD 19 million).
The five main importing countries of the Lao PDR
Thailand (USD 294 million), China (USD 175 million), Vietnam (USD 25 million), the United States (USD 14 million), and Japan (USD 13 million).
