The main export category
The total export value was approximately USD 455 million, decreased by 16% compared to August. The main value exports included: USD 49 million in mixed gold, USD 48 million in electric equipment, USD 42 million in rubber, USD 36 million in paper, USD 32 million in salt; USD 25 million in wood shaving, USD 23 million in copper ore; USD 18 million in banana, USD 8 million in sugar and USD 4 million in cassava.
The main import category
The total import value was approximately USD 609 million, decreased by 9% compared to August. The main value imports included: USD 61 million in diesel, USD 48 million in Mechanical equipment, USD 43 million in land vehicles, USD 41 million in electrical appliances, USD 36 million in steel, USD 27 million in finished chemical products, USD 24 million in vehicle spare parts, USD 22 million in plastic products, USD 20 million beverage and USD 17 million in gasoline.
The five main exporting countries of Lao PDR
China (USD 155 million), Vietnam (USD 98 million), Thailand (USD 38 million), USA (USD 31 million), and Australia (USD 29 million).
The five main importing countries of the Lao PDR
Thailand (USD 242 million), China (USD 206 million), Vietnam (USD 61 million), USA (USD 25 million), and Japan (USD 11 million).
