The value of import and export (excluding electricity) of Lao PDR in May 2025 reached USD 1,906 million, increased by 21% compared to April 2025. In this category, exports were USD 971 million, which increased by 19% and imports were USD 935 million, which increased by 23.5% compared to the last month. The top five export commodities were electrical appliances and equipment, mixed and bar gold, potassium salt, copper ore, and paper and paper product. The top five import commodities were valuable valuable objects, land vehicles, instant chemical products, diesel, mechanical equipment.

The main export category
The total export value was approximately USD 971 million, increased by 19% compared to April. The main value exports included: USD 328 million in electrical appliance and equipment, USD 93.7 million in mixed and bar gold, USD 63.5 million in potassium salt, USD 46 million in copper ore, USD 41 million in paper and paper products, USD 27 million in cassava, USD 25 million in banana, USD 23 million in wood pulp and paper waste, USD 22 million in rubber, and USD 20 million in clothing.
The main import category
The total import value was approximately USD 935 million, increased by 23.5% compared to May. The main value imports included: USD 102.2 million in Valuable objects, USD 96 million in land vehicles (except motorcycles, and tractors), USD 93.5 million in instant mixed chemical products, USD 90 million in diesel fuel, USD 54 million in mechanical equipment (excluding vehicle mechanics), USD 44 million in iron and steel equipment, USD 41 million in electrical and electronic equipment, USD 25 million in plastic equipment, USD 14 million in soft drinks, and USD 19 million in fertilizer.
