Luangprabang province, 26 February 2026. The Department of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, acting as the Secretariat Office of the National Trade and Transport Facilitation Committee, organized a dissemination meeting on the implementation of the Trade and Transport Facilitation Road Map 2025–2030 and its related documents for 9 northern provinces.
The meeting was co-chaired by Mrs Khingsadone PHETDAOHEUANG, Director General of the Department of Foreign Trade and PhD Soulixay HONGSAKHONE Acting Director of Industry and Commerce Department of Luangprabang province, attended by representatives, and technical officials from both relevant local and central sectors.
Participants discussed the implementation framework of the Trade and Transport Facilitation Action Plan 2025–2030, including the development of detailed action plans, coordination and reporting mechanisms under Decision No. 001/NTTFC dated 9 January 2026, and the coordination mechanism for providing trade information through the Lao PDR Trade Portal in accordance with Decision No. 005/NTTFC, dated 11 September 2025.
New features of the Lao PDR Trade Portal, the use of the Trade Information Portal (TIP) application, and pilot creating agency admin accounts and uploading sectoral trade information into the LTP were also introduced and discussed.
In her remarks, the chair Mrs Khingsadone PHETDAOHEUANG emphasized that the Government of the Lao PDR first introduced the Trade Facilitation Strategy for 2011–2015 to support the country’s commitments in preparation for accession to the World Trade Organization, particularly to streamline trade procedures and reduce transaction costs, later the second trade facilitation 2017-2022 Action plan was created, and 2025–2030 road map was just indorsed by government which integrates both trade and transport facilitation to strengthen coordination mechanisms and enhance problem-solving efficiency, recognizing the close linkage between the two sectors. As once stated by Kaysone Phomvihane, “Trade is the chain, and transport is the spearhead.” Besides that, the Lao PDR Trade Portal is also part of the road map implementation.
The meeting was conducted over one full day and concluded on the same day.
