The Office of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce issued Notice No. 0583/MOIC, dated 02 March 2026, addressed to the Provincial and Vientiane Capital Departments of Industry and Commerce, the Lao Fuel and Gas Association, Fuel import–export companies, Domestic fuel distribution companies, and Fuel service stations nationwide.
The notice instructs all relevant sectors to intensify the management and supervision of fuel distribution and supply within the country amid uncertainties arising from the situation in the Middle East.
The notice emphasizes that all parties must continue selling and supplying fuel and keep fuel service stations operating as normal. It strictly prohibits the sale of fuel in containers or canisters with a capacity of 5 liters or more. It also prohibits fuel hoarding for profiteering, market manipulation, or the refusal to supply fuel without justified reason.
Any sectors found violating the prohibitions under Decree No. 559/PM will be subject to strict legal and regulatory action. The Provincial and Vientiane Capital Departments of Industry and Commerce, as well as the District/Municipal Offices of Industry and Commerce, are assigned to closely monitor and strictly enforce the implementation of this notice.
