On March 26, 2026, the Salavan Provincial Department of Industry and Commerce hosted a Discussion  Meeting between the public and private sectors. The session focused on Provincial Trade and Transport Facilitation, chaired by Mr. PadeumphoneSonthany, President of the Provincial Administration Committee, Head of the Provincial Trade and Transport Facilitation Committee.​The meeting was attended by heads of departments, deputy heads, and technical staff from 17 sectors (as mentioned on the Decision No. 276/P.Adc, dated March 10, 2026), alongside business operators and employers, totaling 56 participants.

 

​Key Highlights​ Performance Review: The meeting reviewed the 2025 implementation report on trade and transport facilitation. ​Issues & Proposals: Participants discussed the progress, challenges, and proposals submitted by the Secretariat of the Trade and Transport Facilitation Committee.​reportedon the 2025 activities and the plan for 2026 of Provincial Chamber of Commerce and Industry was presented, highlighting specific challenges faced by the private sector when coordinating with the government.

 

Mr. PadeumphoneSonthany expressed overall consensus on the 2025 performance report. He instructed the Department of Industry and Commerce (Trade Facilitation unit) to collaborate with the Department of Public Works and Transport (Transport Facilitation unit) to define priority work plans for 2026.All relevant puclic tectorsmust simplify administrative procedures and re-examine unnecessary roadside checkpoints to ensure they strictly align with relevant regulations.​The meeting was also discussed measures to regulate the entry of empty trucks intended for goods transport to prevent technical loopholes, such as illegal license plate swapping or unauthorized vehicle modifications.
