In 4 June 2026, in Vientiane Capital, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, in its capacity as the Secretariat of the National Trade and Transport Facilitation Committee (NTTFC), convened the 5th National Meeting with the objective of reviewing and endorsing the draft report on the implementation of trade and transport facilitation activities for the period covering the second half of 2025 to the first half of 2026, as well as the 2026–2027 work plan and other related documents.

The meeting was chaired by H.E. Dr. Manothong Vongsay, Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce and Head of the National Trade and Transport Facilitation Committee (NTTFC). Participants included representatives from relevant departments, Provincial and Vientiane Capital Industry and Commerce Departments, as well as representatives from both public and private sectors at the central and local levels, attending both in person and virtually.

In his opening remarks, H.E. Dr. Manothong Vongsay stated that, in order to implement the Notice of the Prime Minister’s Office No. 1449/PMO, dated 21 August 2025, concerning the implementation of the outcomes of the 3rd National Meeting of the National Trade and Transport Facilitation Committee, held on 11 July 2025 in Bokeo Province, significant progress had been achieved over the past year, as the priority tasks identified, 11 tasks (50%) had been completed, 5 tasks (23%) had shown substantial progress, while 6 tasks (27%) remained behind schedule.

The meeting also received presentations on the implementation report of trade and transport facilitation activities for the period from the second half of 2025 to the first half of 2026, the 2026–2027 work plan, and other related documents. Participants attending both in person and online actively provided comments and recommendations in a constructive and candid manner, highlighting existing challenges and proposing directions and solutions aimed at enhancing trade and transport facilitation, reducing business costs, and creating a more conducive environment for investment and business operations.
