The Department of Import and Export, Ministry of Industry and Commerce on behalf of the office of the Trade Facilitation Secretariat (TFS) will organize a meeting of the Trade Facilitation Secretariat to endorse the “Roadmap to Simplification and Harmonization of Import and Export Standard Operating Procedures” on 25 March 2013 at the Mercure Hotel, Vientiane Capital, Lao PDR. The meeting will be hosted under the honorable chairmanship of Mrs. Khemmany Pholsena, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Industry of Commerce, who is also the Head of the National Trade Facilitation Secretariat. Members of the National Trade Facilitation Secretariat and other related sectors regularly involved in trade facilitation have been invited to participate at the meeting. The objective of the meeting is to endorse the Roadmap to Simplification and Harmonization of Import and Export Standard Operating Procedures.
This aim of the Roadmap is to introduce automation systems to help traders with being able to submit applications for licenses or permits with the Department of Import and Export and other government agencies through the Internet, carry out import-export permit procedures comfortably, easily, accurately, transparently and systematically and reduce the number of processes and unnecessary documentation. The introduction of automation in each sector will be the most effective way to create an integrated information database for all the sectors. These efforts represent a significant step forward in building the Lao National Single Window (LNSW).
