On this occasion the Minister of Industry and Commerce highlighted 3 urgent issues for each Province to address in order to be ready to implement the policy of regional and international economic integration, especially as in most provinces informal trade is still operating along the border. However, faced with this situation, we are forced to make improvements both in macro-economic and business terms. It is also urgent that the Government addresses strengthening of the development and promotion of production and trade. An additional important issue that requires more attention is market and price management because our market is integrated with neighboring countries.  In this regard, the relevant Departments of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, namely the Department of Import and Export, the Department of Promotion and Product Development and the Department of Domestic Trade participated and contributed with technical comments to the meeting.

At the meeting, the Director Generals of Industry and Commerce of the official offices of 8 provinces, namely Xiengkhouang Province, Luangphabang, Xaiyabouly, Phongsaly, Houaphanh, Borkeo. Luangnumtha and Oudomxay province, reported on the achievements and measures implemented for industry and commerce. However, the meeting also emphasized the challenges that need to be solved together in the light of lessons learned including dissemination of knowledge and increase in capacity for regional and international economic integration, barriers on access to agricultural markets with neighboring countries, the promotion of production and enhancement of small and medium enterprises, the promotion and management of business associations, market and price management, the establishment of industrial economic zones, solving the problem of foreign people in the small business sector and the running of agricultural and manufacturing production that affect the community and environment.
