Both sides shared view of the past cooperation which the party and government of both countries had lead closely for the cooperation between Laos-Vietnam especially on economic and trade. The report shown that the number of bilateral trade is continuing increase year by year which indicated of the total amount of import-export has been reach to approximately US$ 1.25 billion in 2013, increased by 27% compared to 2012. In addition, within 06 months 2014, the value of import-export has been reach to approximately US$ 888.03 million which increased by 33% compared to the same period in 2013. This is a result of participation from public and private sectors of Laos and Vietnam. The meeting also compliment 26 departments and 18 individuals for Vietnam’s side, 29 departments and 15 individuals for Laos’s side.
Moreover, both sides are to pay more attention in contributing information regarding border trade and create more specific border trade development project plans, including fund-raising and to attack both internal and external investors and other countries to implement and develop Laos-Vietnam border market, to build up special relationship, united and strategy cooperation of Laos-Vietnam to be brighter and to be a part implementing poverty eradication for the people of Lao PDR.
In addition, the co-chaired persons from both countries has co-signed the memorandum of the 9th Meeting on Border Trade Development Cooperation in order to be directions for future collaboration, specially to turn Master Plan of Net Developing Market in Laos-Vietnam Border to 2020 into implementation and to create tools to evaluate annual implementation, including expediting the implementation of inspection for “single window, one point” to facilitate import-export of goods for both countries.
Along the meeting, both sides also organized Lao-Vietnam Products Exhibition in order to promote trade relations. Thus, visiting local manufacturing and historical places of Dien Bien Province, Vietnam.
