In order to ensure the harmonization on the export of processed veneer in some Central and Southern provinces (Bolikhamxay, Khammouan, Savannakhet, Champasak, Saravanh and Attapeu province), Ministry of Industry and Commerce issued a Notification on the Export of Veneer No. 1242/MoIC, dated 18 July 2016.
The notification permits the export of veneer (HS code 4408) that are produced by factories that has a contract and eligible source in the amount being specified in the Table of Processed Veneer of the Department of Industry and Handicraft No. 674/MoIC.DoIH, dated 13 July 2016. As for raw materials (logs) that are remained in the factories can be further processed for domestic supply or export as processed wood products.
The Provincial Department of Industry and Commerce in Bolikhamxay, Khammouan, Savannakhet, Champasak, Saravanh and Attapeu province shall issue Veneer Certificates to enable the load of veneers to the carriers. The Department shall cooperate with the Department of Agriculture and Forestry (forest sector), and the Department of Finance (Public asset administrative office) to work together as inspection committee. Before loading such veneers to the carriers, the committee shall check for source, sale contract, duty payment, and volume base on the Table of Processed Veneer No. 674/MoIC.DoIH, dated 13 July 2016. After that the committee shall put customs seal on the carriers.
The notification became effective on 18 July 2016.
