A Survey Report of China-ASEAN (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam, CLMV) Trade Facilitation was conducted by the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit Secretariat (CABIS) jointly with China-ASEAN Institute of Guangxi University and national chambers of commerce and industry from the CLMV countries respectively. The researched group interviewed foreign enterprises engaged in trade in Guangzi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Yunna province, Canton province and Shenzhen city of China as well as in the CLMV countries, and received 507 feedbacks from business entities at the same time.

The survey focuses on increasing trade and investment value between China and the Great Mekong Region (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Vietnam or CLMV) that China considers as important strategic partners that will lead to a deepening of economic and trade cooperation between China and ASEAN. China shares geography and long cooperation with CLMV that will enhance trade connectivity and lead to China’s belt and road initiative. The revision of CAFTA and ongoing RCEP negotiation will be accomplished shortly. They will lead the trade between China and ASEAN to post customs era. Therefore, trade facilitation is a new target to Chinese enterprise to enter CLMV.

The survey provides comparison on factors that affect trade facilitation in operating business in China and ASEAN especially CLMV. It is divided into 3 parts: (1) the backgrounds which focuses on brief introduction on China-ASEAN (CLMV), framework for the implementation of trade facilitation, measures for China-ASEAN trade facilitation, a measure of the whole situation of China-ASEAN trade facilitation. (2) Problems which include customs clearance environment, policy environment, ports efficiency, E-commerce, and mobility of business personnel, and (3) suggestions to tackle the problems.
