Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) is a grouping of IT industry associations representing economies in the Asia and Oceania region. ASOCIO was established in 1984 with the objective to promote, encourage and foster relationships and trade between its members, and to develop the computing industry in the region. The organization had organized ASOCIO ICT Summit on 13th -17th November 2016 hosted by Myanmar Computer Federation at Yangon, Myanmar under the theme “Accelerate Digital Transformation through Leveraging Opportunities in ASEAN Economic Community (AEC)”.

The awards given at the summit, were categorized into three types: 2016 ASOCIO ICT Award Outstanding ICT Company, 2016 ASOCIO ICT Award Outstanding User Organization, and 2016 ASOCIO ICT Award Digital Government.

In the middle of October 2016, Department of Import and Export of Ministry of Industry and Commerce had summited ICT transformation works which consist of Lao PDR Trade Portal and Electronic Certification of Origin Issuing System (e-CO) websites to apply for 2016 ASOCIO Award under the coordination support of Lao ICT Commerce Association with the organization. These websites were chosen to win one of the 2016 ASOCIO ICT Award Digital Government, as a government that apply ICT in order to enhance efficiency on work in transparent process and facilitating trade for public and private sector for both domestic and international level which immensely benefit to society.
