“The meeting to review the coordination mechanism and exchange of trade information in the past 10 months and a plan for 2017” was organized on 18th January 2017 at Lao Plaza Hotel in Vientiane Capital by Department of Import and Export as an office of Trade Facilitation Secretariat (TFS), under the support of the Second Trade Development Facility (TDF2). The meeting was chaired by Mrs. Banesaty Thephavong, Director General of Department of Import and Export, Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The meeting was participated by 45 Lao PDR Trade Portal (LTP) focal points.
Generally, LTP management team organizes meeting with focal point twice a year and this meeting is the third meeting and the second meeting for the year 2016. The objective of this meeting is to review the coordination mechanism and exchange of information in the past 10 months (March – December 2016) and a plan for 2017 for LTP. In addition, the meeting also aims to discuss on (1) plan to update legal document system in LTP, and (2) plan to update import, export and transit procedures and its regulations in LTP.
In 2016, the outstanding performance of LTP is achieving 2016 ASOCIO ICT Award Digital Government. It is the award for Lao government that apply ICT to enhance transparency by easy access to the trade related information and to facilitate trade.
However, to keep the momentum on standards and sustainability of LTP, the meeting has actively discussed ways to develop LTP especially the improvement of coordination mechanism in order to enhance various contents on LTP, expedite the dissemination of trade information and other issues.
