On 30-31 January 2018, at Vangvieng district, Vientiane province. Department of Import and Export (DIMEX) has organized a consultation meeting with relevant sectors to affirm the list of goods under their management and goods subject to import or export licensing, in parallel with the revision of some legal documents stipulated by public sector in order to prescribe prohibited goods for import and export so the government, as well as business officers, can refer to. The meeting attracts up to 35 representatives from concerned parties.

In this meeting, participants have acknowledged the progress of the amendment of Notification No.0076/MoIC.DIMEX, dated 13 January 2018 on Goods subject to Automatic and Non-automatic Import or Export licensing and the Notification No. 0973/MoIC.DIMEX, dated 25 March 2011on Prohibited Goods for Import and Export which DIMEX has recently held a consultation meeting on the reduction and addition to the list of goods into the new draft that combines comments as proposed from relevant sectors. As many legal documents have been revised and changed including tariff code that does not cover the category of goods subject to SPS and TBT, the list of goods is also open for the public to provide comments through the website of Lao Trade Portal for its rich and complete content.
