To improve for a more concise and prompt procedure of doing business in Lao PDR and untangle the difficulties of domestic business operation by reducing procedures, time, and cost of running a business. In early 2018, Trade Facilitation Secretariat (TFS) together with the local relevant sectors have disseminated the work of trade facilitation, Prime Minister’s Ordinance on Regulatory Amendment and Coordination Mechanism of Business Operations in Lao PDR. No 02/PMO dated 01 February 2018, Trade Facilitation Roadmap of Lao PDR for 2017-2022 and the establishment of a central and local coordination mechanism for TFS. In addition, data of import and export licenses, transit goods managed by relevant local authorities in northern, central and southern provinces as well as the data of license and time release at international border checkpoints have also been collected.
In early March 2018, at Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Trade Facilitation Secretariat has organized a meeting with public and private sectors related to import and export and transit goods in order to present and identify ways to improve import and export procedures and to disseminate to create better understanding of Trade Facilitation Roadmap of Lao PDR for 2017-2022. In particular, the establishment of central and local coordination mechanisms for implementing the work of trade facilitation. The main objective of the meeting is to amend a draft of Decision on the Organization and Operation of Trade Facilitation Secretariat No. 023/NSC, dated 20 October 2010, this amended draft determines the central and provincial level as a reference for accelerating the implementation of central and local trade facilitation for its consistency and accord throughout the country.
