The monthly import and export of August 2019 reached US$ 784 million. The exports value US$ 406 million and imports value US$ 378 million and the trade deficit was approximately US$ 28 million.

The total exports in August were approximately US$ 406 million. The exports included gold ore US$ 47 million, copper and copper products US$ 40 million, banana US$ 11 million; wood pulp and waste paper US$ 28 million; structure and components of the camera US$ 25 million; beverage (water, drinks) US$16 million, mixed gold and gold bars US$ 14 million; clothes US$ 20 million; rubber US$ 23 million, electrical equipment and power US$17 million, sugar US$10 million, salt US$ 9 million, cows and cattle US$ 21 million and wooden US$ 13 million.
The main import category
The total of imports in August was approximately US$ 378 million. The imports included: steel and steel products US$ 35 million, electric equipment US$ 7 million, diesel and US$ 29 million, mechanical equipment US$ 25 million, beverage (water, drinks) US$ 17 million, premium gasoline US$ 11 million, plastic and plastic appliances US$ 9 million, wood pulp and waste paper US$ 13 million, sugar US$ 11 million and livestock US$ 20 million.
The five main exporting countries of Lao PDR
The main export countries of Lao PDR included China US$ 168 million, Thailand US$ 108 million, Vietnam US$ 80 million, Japan US$ 9 million and Switzerland US$ 9 million.
The five main importing countries of the Lao PDR
The main importing countries of Laos are Thailand US$ 211 million, China US$ 89 million, Vietnam US$ 45 million, United States US$ 7 million and Japan US$ 4 million.
