Chile is a country in Latin American (South America) and the capital names Santiago, where is located along the Pacific Ocean and bordered by Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina. Chile is one of the leaders in Latin America's competitiveness and innovation according to the report of the 2018-2019 Global Competitiveness Index.
Chile has been in diplomatic relations with the Lao PDR since 1992, with embassies are located in Hanoi of Vietnam, Beijing of China and Bangkok of the Kingdom of Thailand. Chile and Lao PDR have had trade relations since 2017, with the value of trade reaching $ 1.3 million. However, the value of trade was declined to $ 600,000 in 2018. From January to July this year, the trade value reached US $ 430,000. The main imports from the Republic of Chile are the machine of processing stone and wine and the main export of Lao PDR to Chile are shoes, jewelry, and men's clothing.
As a part of this visit, the Ambassador of Chile invited all guests to taste some samples of the local wine which is the most popular brand in South America and one of the world's leading wine brands to introduce and explore new markets to Lao PDR in the future.
