The monthly import and export of September 2019 reached US$ 792 million. The exports value US$ 327 million and imports value US$ 464 million and the trade deficit was approximately US$ 137 million.

The total exports in September was approximately US$ 327 million. The exports included, US$ 39 million of gold ore; US$ 35 million of copper and accessories made of copper, US$ 11 million of bananas, US$ 26 million of pulp and paper, US$ 24 million of frames and camera parts, US$ 20 million of beverages, US$ 16 million of clothing, US$ 14 million of electrical and electrical equipment, US$ 9 million of sugar and US$ 19 million of rubber.
The main import category
The total of imports in August was approximately US$ 464 million. The imports included US$ 34 million vehicles besides tractors and motorcycles, US$ 15 million of electrical machinery and equipment, US$ 31 million of diesel, US$ 36 million of mechanical equipment (other than motor vehicles), US$ 47 million of steel, magnetic steel and steel products, US$ 21 million of beverages, US$ 17 million of spare parts (tires, engines ...), US$ 16 million of steel lines and various forms of steel, US$ 17 million of plastic and plastic products, and US$ 20 million of livestock.
The five main exporting countries of Lao PDR
The main export countries of Lao PDR included China US$ 118 million, Thailand US$ 94 million, Vietnam US$ 72 million, Japan US$ 8 million and Switzerland US$ 9 million.

The main importing countries of Laos are Thailand US$ 265 million, China US$ 106 million, Vietnam US$ 52 million, US$ 7 million and Japan US$ 6 million.
