On 3 December 2019, a meeting was held in Bokeo’s Industry and Commerce Division with co-chaired, Ms. Phoungphanh Phoumsavanh, Head of Bokeo’s Industry and Commerce Division and with Mr. Lo Chin Wey, Head of the Commerce Division of Sub-municipality of Xishuangbanna. There were 120 attendants of relevant sectors and businesses from both nations.
The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the cooperation and socio-economic development between the two provinces, in which the Lao Government presented relevant laws such as, Law on Promotion of Investment, Law, Enterprise Law, Customs Law and Environment Law. The Chinese Government mention that Chinese investors are interested to invest in Bokeo in various sectors, especially the agricultural and industrial sectors in order to export goods to international markets.
This was the first meeting between the two provinces (Bokeo and Sub-municipality of Xishuangbanna) which was a great opportunity to exchange information on investment and trades, especially to understand and integrate entrepreneurs to implement policies and guidelines to the right direction and implementations.
The two cooperation is exploring the potential of another party with the greatest profit for two parties. Bokeo has the potential in agricultural land, convenient transportation, and a good climate for agricultural and industrial products. Addition, the Sub-municipality of Xishuangbanna is advantageous in modern agricultural techniques, secure funding sources and a sustainable market for goods.
