In the process of producing pulp and waste papers will be made by two main sources. These sources are from eucalyptus as raw materials and waste papers as recycled papers, these sources are from locally and internationally.

According to the export statistics of pulpwood and waste paper in 2019 which is a value in exporting from Lao PDR. The value in 2019 was approximately US$ 251 million, including export to China US$ 250 million, to Thailand US$ 0.8 million and to Vietnam US$ 0.2 million.

Although the Lao PDR has a high value of export pulpwood and waste paper, there is import value US$ 24 million of pulpwood and waste papers. The import are from China, USA, Korea, Hong Kong and Thailand. The top import is China US$ 14 million, US$ 9 million from the USA, US$ 77,000 was from Korea, US$ 72,000 from Hong Kong and US$ 62,000 from Thailand.

Currently, Laos has a factory that produces pulp papers and waste papers in Savannakhet province. The factory can be seen as large as a well-known factory in Brazil, South American which can produce 1.2 million tons of paper products per year.
