The Department of Livestock and Fisheries has issued a guideline on large size of livestock measures and farms that to be exported from Lao PDR to China, No. 0807/DLF, dated 07 April 2020. The details as following:

1. The measures of the large animals which will be exported from Lao PDR to China:

  • Large livestock can be defined as large size animals which are native or breeding or hybrids with are not more than 350 kilograms and not over than 4 years old. In addition, the large animals must be origin in Laos or can be imported and raised in Laos for at least 150 days. The farms must be legally registered in Lao PDR and according to document No. 0209/MAF, dated 06 February 2013;
  • The breeding farms are important that should not have a history of any disease detection within six months with certification from animal disease research centers such as dermatology, pneumonia and tuberculosis. Before exporting, the animal must be moved to Ban Nakham, Sinh District, Luang Namtha Province where is a quarantine center from disease for 45 days.

2. The breeding farms measures for exporting to China:

  • The breeding farms must be approved by the local authorities and relevant sectors. The farms should be located in a suitable location, free from flooding, away from community-based oral disease and not detrimental to local livelihoods such as contaminants and water. In addition, the area and surroundings must provide clear and appropriate amenities such as a lawn, a home, a ranch, a stockpile of animal feed and an enclosed fence for safety in all aspects;
  • The floor should be concrete, sloping, not easily disinfected and disinfected and have good drainage. The ranch house may be a single cot or cot and is proportionally proportional to the number of animals raised.
