The import and export of Lao PDR in April 2020 achieved US$ 529 million, including US$ 208 million of export and approximately US$ 320 million of import, therefore, the trade deficit was US$ 112 million

The total export in April was approximately US$ 208 million. The main export products have value: US$ 26 million of pulpwood and waste paper, US$ 21 million of banana, US$ 21 million of copper and copper products, US$ 12 million of mixed gold and gold bars, US$ 11 million of cassava, US$ 10 million of fruits (watermelon, passion fruit, tamarind ...), US$ 10 million of coffee (unprocessed), US$ 10 million of copper ore, US$ 9 million of salt and US$ 5 million of clothes.
The main import category
The total import in April was approximately US$ 320 million. The import products have value: US$ 30 million of mechanical equipment (excluded motor vehicles), US$ 30 million of steel and steel products, magnetics, US$ 25 million of diesel, US$ 20 million of livestock, US$ 17 million of beverages, US$ 14 million of road vehicles (excluded motorcycles, tractors), US$ 13 million of electrical products, US$ 12 million of plastic appliances, US$ 11 million of wire steel and steel appliances, US$ 6 million of spare parts (tires, mirror and chain).
The five main export countries of Lao PDR
The main export countries of Lao PDR were: China US$ 79 million, Vietnam US$ 54 million Thailand US$ 45 million, Switzerland US$ 12 million and Germany US$ 4 million.

The main import countries of Lao PDR were: Thailand US$ 182 million, China US$ 72 million, Vietnam US$ 31 million, Japan US$ 10 million and United State US$ 9 million.
The April statistic does not include the value of export electric power, therefore, we will update later when it is available.
