Pursuant to the Notification No. 00283/MPWT dated 24 April 2020 that provides further guidance of the import and export procedure in order to ensure that Customs Officer and shipping companies take it into an account as a serious implementation as details below:

1. The Imports

• Foreign drivers who can enter into Laos at a specific point must follow strict health measures, such as wearing a mask and checking the temperature of the health authorities in Lao PDR;

• Foreign drivers who are transporting goods which are chemical hazards or projects of highways, dams and others that cannot be shifted due to a safety concern. Thus, the drivers will be allowed to deliver the goods and items to a specific destination with a request letter from the project owner or project representative in Laos. If a case that the drivers have to stay overnight, the project is responsible for safe and private accommodation for the drivers.

2. The Exports

• Lao trucks can shift goods in the border at a specific point or deliver goods to a destination if the second country allows to entry;

• Allows empty trucks and containers to pick up goods at a border of Laos for export;

• Foreign drivers and assistants must follow the measures and procedures seriously which will be implemented by the Public Health monitoring in Laos’ borders.
