On 27 February 2020, at the Head Office of Star Fintech Co., Ltd, an Agreement between the BCEL and Star Fintech Co., Ltd was held for the BCEL E-Commerce. The Agreement was signed by representatives from both sides: Mr. Nanthalath Keopaseuth, Deputy Managing Director, BCEL and Mr. Luu Minh Ha, CEO, Star Fintech Co., Ltd and an honor invitee, Mr. Soulysack THAMNUVONG, Director General of the Payment Systems Department of the Bank of the Lao PDR, managing teams of both parties and mass media.
The "BCEL E-Commerce" service is an online payment for goods and services ordered through the website of Star Fintech Co., Ltd which will make it easier for customers for paying telephone and internet bills and other items such as mobile phones and electronic shopping. The payment method can be paid online anywhere, both domestically and internationally, for 24/7 via VISA, MasterCard, JCB, UnionPay, AliPay, WeChatPay and UPI QR.
BCEL is the first bank in Lao PDR that provides e-commerce services since 2013 and there are 24 companies have signed agreements to use the BCEL E-Commerce payment system. In 2020, Star Fintech Co., Ltd has signed a contract with BCEL in seeking benefits of the online payment system and believes that BCEL E-Commerce will be able to promote its business in expanding the market. "E-Commerce" services can contribute to grow economics and along with the transition to a digital age that is convenient, fast and meets international standards. Also, this method is one of the government's plans in boosting economics of Lao PDR.
