Since 1994, the Lao Coffee Association has been established to bring together entrepreneurs engaged in coffee-related activities to promote commercial productions to international standards for export. Currently, the Lao Coffee Association has 65 members with 4 producing groups in 4 provinces which are Lao Ngam district - Saravan province, Tha Taeng district - Sekong province, Sanxay district - Attapeu province and Paksong district - Champasak province, and consists of 6 Cooperatives.

Each year, the members can export coffee more than 30 tons. Furthermore, in the first six months of 2020 exported more than 22,280 tons of coffee and worth nearly to $US 40 million.

In addition, according to the Department of Import and Export, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce has summarized number of export unprocessed and processed coffee and values from 2015-2019 as details as the table below:

In 2019, Lao PDR exported unprocessed coffee to the largest value such as: Vietnam with a value about US$ 35 million, Thailand with a value about US$ 10 million and Belgium with a value about US$ 5 million. In addition, Lao PDR exported processed coffee to the largest value such as: Thailand has a value of US$ 4 million, China has a value of US$ 500,000 and the Philippines with a value of US$ 200,000.
