On 12 November 2020, the Department of Investment Promotion (DIP), Ministry of Planning and Investment held a meeting to review the progress of the Order No.02/PM in order to improve regulations and coordination mechanisms of doing business in Lao PDR. Dr. Phonexay Vilaysak, Deputy Director General of the DIP with invited guests from the relevant departments and ministries.
The purpose of this meeting is to review, summarize and evaluate the performance in implementing the Order No. 02 / PM, which aims to raise the ease of doing business in Lao PDR in accordance with the development plan by the World Bank. Currently, Laos is ranged on the 154, therefore, Laos must try the hardest to achieve two-digit number of the range.
By reviewing reports of the relevant departments, it can be observed that many sectors did their best to improve relevant regulations and procedures. However, the improvement is still being late in terms of approving action plans of doing business indicators. Furthermore, there are still many issues that we should address in order to achieve the Government’s Goals.
The Covid-19 outbreak is also a major obstacle to many activities that are pulled back as unexpected plans. If all sectors are continued to work together to solve the obstacles then to implement the Order 02/PM is still possible in order to achieve the Government of Lao PDR’s Goals to boost and stimulus internal products that can be increased the value of export.
