Over the past five years (2017 to the first six months of 2021), the value of Lao PDR's imports and exports to Russia has been approximately US$ 27.5 million. The value of Lao PDR's imports from Russia was approximately US$ 23.3 million and exports were US$ 4.2 million.
In the last 5 years, Lao products exported to Russia were: US$ 400,000 of footwear, US$ 200,000 of coffee (unprocessed). Laos’s imported Russian products: US$ 3.4 million of land vehicles (excluding motorcycles, tractors), US$ 3.4 million of communication equipment and parts and US$ 3 million of plastic products.
In addition, according to the website www.trademap.org, in 2020, Russia imported 231,000 tons of unprocessed coffee from Vietnam which was the highest-ranking worldwide, while imported from Lao PDR was 16 tons or ranked 49th. It seems that Lao Coffee still have a large market if it meets the requirements of Russia.
Laos coffee (unprocessed) can be seen as a top agricultural export that it has its own unique taste however the export of Lao coffee to Russia was not significant demand comparing to the market demand. In 2020 Laos exported coffee (unprocessed) to Russia was $US 86 million.
Overall, Laos has been exported coffee (green bean) to many countries and has a high value, according to data from the Lao Coffee Association, Lao coffee bean exported 18,000 tons.
