The imports and exports of Lao PDR in August 2021 values US$ 880 million, including US$ 428 million of export and approximately US$ 452 million of import, therefore, the Trade deficit was US$ 24 million.
The main export category
The total exports were approximately US$ 428 million. The main value exports included US$ 19 million of copper ore, US$ 10 million of copper and copper products, US$ 25 million of banana, US$ 65 million of mix gold (gold bars), US$ 20 million of clothes, US$ 2 million of raw coffee, US$ 11 million of sugar, US$ 22 million of rubber, US$ 7 million of fruits (water melon, passion fruits and tamarind) and US$ 5 million of cigarette.
The main import category
The total imports were approximately US$ 452 million. The main value imports included US$ 33 millions of vehicles (other than motorcycles, tractors), US$ 9 millions of electric parts and equipment, US$ 39 millions of diesel, US$ 33 millions of mechanical equipment (other than motor vehicles), US$ 15 millions of steel, steel products, magnetic steel, US$ 11 millions of gasoline and premium gasoline, US$ 14 millions of plastic products, US$ 22 millions of gems or semi-precious stones, US$ 7 millions of chemical products and US$ 12 millions of food factories waste.
The five main exporting countries of Lao PDR
The main exporting countries of Lao PDR included China US$ 184 million, Vietnam US$ 90 million, Thailand US$ 49 million, Germany US$ 7 million and USA US$ 7 million.
The five main importing countries of the Lao PDR
The main importing countries of Laos included: Thailand US$ 249 million, China US$ 100 million, Vietnam US$ 46 million, Japan US$ 5 million and USA US$ 22 million.
The August 2021 statistic does not include the value of export electric power, therefore, we will update later when it is available.
