The imports and exports of Lao PDR in September 2022 were valued at US$ 1,146 million, including US$456 million in export and approximately US$689 million in imports, therefore, the trade deficit was US$233 million.

The main export category

The total exports were approximately US$456 million. The main value exports included US$55 million in gold and gold bullion, US$36 million in rubber, US$31 million in fertilizer, US$31 million in gold ore, US$28 million in sugar, US$25 million in clothes, US$16 million in bananas, US$15 million in shoes, US$14 million in iron ore and US$13 million in cattle buffalo.

The main import category

The total imports were approximately US$689 million. The main value imports included US$119 million in mechanical equipment, US$86 million in diesel, US$44 million in land vehicles, US$26 million in precious-semi-precious stones, US$24 million in gasoline, US$19 million in plastic products, US$14 million in steel and iron-steel products, US$14 million in live animals, US$13 million in electrical cables and US$12 million in spare parts.   

The five main exporting countries of Lao PDR

The main exporting countries of Lao PDR included China US$ 176 million, Vietnam US$ 103 million, Thailand US$ 53 million, Australia US$ 25 million, and Hongkong US$ 17 million.

The five main importing countries of the Lao PDR

The main importing countries of Laos included: Thailand US$ 289 million, China US$ 250 million, Vietnam US$ 27 million, USA US$ 24 million, and Switzerland US$ 23 million.

 

The September 2022 statistic does not include the value of export electric power; therefore, we will update later when it is available.
