Previously, companies whose purpose is to import custom-and-duty-free steel bars and cement for project implementation, not only prepare the full set of documents, but also need to acquire an authorization letter from the Import and Export Department. They then submit the authorization letter to the Provincial’s and Vientiane Capital’s Industry and Commerce Department in order to undergo an inspection and make a declaration to custom officers at the border check points for import approval. Therefore, in order to reduce procedures and facilitate trade on import and export, the Department of Import and Export has informed all departments of the termination of the issue of the authorization letter for the import of custom-and-duty-free steel bars and cement for use in various projects. This consideration is now the responsibility of the Provincial and Vientiane Capital Industry and Commerce Departments. This approach will be effective from 1 March 2013 onward
